Doctoral student, clinical psychology

Gina Bravo (she/her/ella), a first-generation Mexican college graduate, has a deep passion for fostering safe therapeutic spaces for individuals. As a dedicated clinical psychology PhD student and therapist in residency at the Psychological Center at the City College of New York, she is passionate about establishing warm and inclusive environments for client-centered care. Her goal as a training bilingual clinical psychologist is to address the mental health needs of marginalized communities with a focus on trauma-informed care. Growing up in a Hispanic community, Gina is aware of the stigma of seeking mental health care and acknowledges the challenges of seeking services. Her focus is supporting clients through their journeys warmly and open-mindedly while creating a space for clients to explore their interpersonal selves. Gina’s therapeutic approach is based on psychodynamic principles that recognize the power of dynamic work and encourage increased levels of support.

In previous clinical and research experiences, Gina has worked extensively to understand the health disparities of at-risk communities. Themes range from environmental health to community-based efforts; she has worked on collaborations in creating research plans to increase the living conditions of residents. Gina also helped support households throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by connecting them with the appropriate social services aid. Through Gina’s collaborative work in qualitative and quantitative research projects, her aim is to continue understanding a culturally responsive framework for mental health treatment.

Gina speaks both English and Spanish fluently and provides therapeutic services to individuals across all stages of life and from diverse backgrounds. She looks forward to working collaboratively with clients and fostering an engaging, safe therapeutic space. Gina is passionate about meeting clients where they are in their journeys and exploring topics, which include interpersonal relationships, identity development, family dynamics, immigration, and daily stressors.
